Good News!

We are still on track to close today at 4. This work day is going to drag for sure! The even better news is that they are going to start pouring our exterior concrete today! We will be able to walk on it for the move this weekend, just not put the truck on it which will be fine, it's not too bad of a walk. EVEN BETTER NEWS- We went to the Home and Garden show a few weeks ago and entered to win a lawnmower- guess what… WE WON! Nick is super excited and can’t wait to pick it up. 

Update- Nick couldn't wait so he ran over on his lunch break..

Planning on going over to the house tonight and maybe paint some samples of the colors we chose over the weekend. I did pack up 2 cars with stuff last night to being over. Thought it might be nice to have somewhere to sit when we are over there this week, so we are bringing over our table and chairs along with our paint supplies.

T-2 days til closing

We got approval from NVR for closing on Tuesday! We gave them out most recent pay stubs and a few outstanding items Friday and now we are good to go.

Friday we also had our walk through at the house which turned out to be very informative. There are a few things that we need to consider getting like a dehumidifier before summer, electronic air filter, and seals for driveway and granite. The PM showed us our homeowners bible binder for once we move in which has all our warranty info and other tips for maintaining the products we selected. Nick was most excited about the grass and sod maintenance. He cant wait to get his lawnmower...

Which brings me to my next point. Unfortunately we are on a long list to get a driveway. With the weather finally warming up we will be looking to get the driveway and yard underway ASAP. The PM told us there is around 100 Ryan homes that were completed over the winter in the area that need driveways. Although they have multiple contractors, it still could be a several weeks before we are all officially done. 

We were a little bummed to find out that the builder does not recommend we pour a patio right away. The ground near the house that was dug up could be settling for at least a year so we may need to wait til the fall to get this moving. We do have a contractor coming out Friday to take a look and give us his opinion. 

I took one more picture of the kitchen with the appliances in. We definitely need some color in there! And a back splash eventually.  A few of the cabinets were a little scratched up, so he is going to order new faces for them.

After hours in the paint section at Home Depot we bought what felt like a million gallons of paint today, but turned out to be only 7 or so. We plan on painting the great room, morning room, kitchen, bathrooms, and master bedroom this week before Saturday when we move in.  Seems like a lot now that I think about it. We are going to owe our parents big time after all this!

That's it for now! We took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and celebrated St. Patrick's day a little early!

P.S. The weather for Saturday is looking a lot better now, NO RAIN.. so we will keep our finger crossed. We have been rounding up the troops (our friends and families) to help us as well!

Walk through tomorrow!

Well... Our move in date is on the 10 day forecast and it's not looking good. BUT... We are still excited to finally get in the house. Can't believe it's been over 6 months since we first got this party started.

We have our final walk through and home demonstration tomorrow. Can't wait to see all the appliances and final touches that weren't in last week. 

Here are a few pics of the front of the house from yesterday. We finally don't have to climb over a giant wall to get in the front door and the walk way isn't a giant mud pit. 

 

We will be asking about the sod and seeding tomorrow. They already put in the winterized driveway as a interim to the concrete driveway once the weather warms up. 

We will hopefully check back in tomorrow after the walk through and post some more pics. 

I reached out to a few contractors to get quotes on a stamped concrete patio. Nick loves grilling and I can't wait to enjoy the yard, so it's a must!

Getting There!

Come on in!

Things are getting completed pretty quickly. Here are our banisters to the steps going to the second floor. 

This is the great room with the door to the office. We love our carpet! :)

We are heading to the Cincinnati Home and Garden show over the weekend to get some ideas for the yard and patio. I also hope to come across my dream lawn mower. Next Friday will be our walk through. We are hoping for some great weather for the move in!

Update!

Hello. This is Nick for a quick update. This week our house will be getting some work done on the inside guts before the dry wall. Yesterday (Sunday), we finalized the location of the cable outlets, speakers, and switches for the speakers. The dry wall should be going in early next week. The siding should follow. Everything is moving right along!

 

 This is our view from the corner of the master bedroom. To the left you can see the huge bonus room! To the right is the master bathroom. I would like to keep the house without dry wall to run in between the rooms. I don't think Jessica will let me. I also do not think it is that safe.
